Avner Aliphas, MD, MS

Chief, Division of Otolaryngology, Newton-Wellesley Hospital

Dr. Aliphas graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science. He then completed a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. He started his medical training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his internship in General Surgery, residency and chief administrative resident year in Otolaryngology at the Boston Medical Center before joining the staff at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Dr. Aliphas continues his affiliation with Boston University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology – teaching residents in didactics and various clinical settings. Dr. Aliphas is board certified in Otolaryngology including sinus/allergy and otologic disease.

Outside of the office, Dr. Aliphas enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys as well as playing ice hockey and swimming.

Jordan Glicksman, MD, MPH, FACS, FRCSC

Dr. Glicksman is a graduate of McGill University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physiology. He completed medical school and a residency in Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery (Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery) at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Harvard University and completed sub-specialty fellowship training in Rhinology & Skull Base Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Glicksman is a lecturer at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in both the United States and Canada.

Dr. Glicksman strives to provide his patients excellent care that is tailored towards their specific needs. His expertise relates to diseases of the Ears, Nose and Throat, and sub-specialty care for diseases related to the nasal cavities and sinuses.

Outside of the office, Dr. Glicksman enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and participating in a variety of athletic endeavors.

Kenneth Grundfast, MD

After completing a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Boston University-Tufts University Combined Otolaryngology Residency Program in 1977, Dr. Grundfast went to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for a one-year fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology. Subsequently, he joined the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, staying there until December 1979 when he moved to Washington DC to accept the position as Chair, Department of Otolaryngology, at the Children’s National Medical Center. In 1989 he took a one-year sabbatical to study the genetics of deafness at the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders. In 1996, he moved to the Georgetown University School of Medicine and became the Interim Chair in the Department of Otolaryngology. In 1999 he moved to Boston to become the Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Boston University School of Medicine, a position that he held for 18 years.

Dr. Grundfast has a keen interest in medical ethics and served for ten years as chair of the Ethics Committee at the Boston Medical Center. For the past ten years, Dr. Grundfast has concentrated his practice on the evaluation and management of adults with ear and hearing disorders including hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, disequilibrium.

Johanna Lam, FNP-BC

Johanna graduated from Georgetown University with an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Linguistics. She then completed her Masters in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Direct Entry Program at Simmons College in Boston. Prior to working at New England Ear Nose & Throat, Johanna worked in community health providing primary care services to a diverse population of patients. She is currently board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner with the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Outside of the office, Johanna enjoys doing yoga, getting outside and traveling. She lives in Sudbury with her husband, 2 daughters and 2 dogs.

Joseph Sabra, MD

Dr. Sabra graduated from the University of Florida Honors Program with a bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology. He completed medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed his residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Boston University.

Dr. Sabra is passionate about providing comprehensive care for a wide range of ear, nose, and throat disorders, with particular interests in sinus conditions, thyroid disease, salivary gland disorders, and sleep surgery. He is dedicated to providing personalized and compassionate care to each of his patients and welcomes new patients to his practice. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Sabra enjoys quality time with his family, engaging in outdoor activities, and playing soccer and tennis.

Jennifer Shehan, MD

Dr. Shehan graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in English Literature. She obtained her medical degree in her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Following medical school, Dr. Shehan completed her training in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Boston Medical Center and sub-specialty training in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California Davis.

Dr. Shehan specializes in complex reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery of the face and neck for both children and adults. She practices at Newton-Wellesley Hospital with New England Ear Nose & Throat and is also affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology. 

She believes in providing the best possible patient care and highest satisfaction for every patient she meets. She strives to provide natural results with an emphasis on holistic care and transparency for patients throughout each surgical transformation. Outside of work, Dr. Shehan enjoys all things outdoors including hiking and skiing in the beautiful mountains of New England.

Ricole “Ricki” Haden, Au.D., CCC-A

Dr. Ricole “Ricki” Haden has been an audiologist for over 30 years and provides the latest in diagnostic audiology to both pediatric and adult populations, in addition to hearing aid evaluations and fittings. She is very interested in balance disorders. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa where she graduated with high honors. In addition to audiology, she is trained as a Speech-Language Pathologist and has a firm grasp of child development, language and auditory processing. Dr. Haden received her Masters of Science degree from the University of Arizona and her Doctorate of Audiology degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences. Dr. Haden is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. She is highly motivated and thoroughly enjoys her profession.

When she is not working, Ricki enjoys spending time with her husband and five children (four human, one canine) and is an avid walker. She loves to travel, laugh and enjoys life.

Susan M. Holden, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA

Dr. Susan M. Holden has been a licensed audiologist in Massachusetts since 2011. She attended Boston University’s Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences for her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences and the University of Connecticut for her Doctorate of Audiology.

Dr. Holden completed her Audiology Externship at Boston Medical Center and remained working in larger hospital settings for 12 years prior to joining the team at NEENT. She has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Working with both pediatric and adult patients, Dr. Holden values her role in her patient’s lives by enhancing their communication abilities with the latest hearing aid technology. Her primary goal is to provide her patients with a healthier hearing lifestyle.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children.
